Stop the Budget Deficit Commission! The Obama White House and Congress are teaming up to rob your retirement.

President Obama, along with Senators Kent Conrad and Judd Gregg, are pushing for the creation of a bi-partisan commission aimed at cutting your Social Security and Medicare benefits, in an effort to reduce the federal budget deficit.   The recommendations of the Budget Deficit Commission would then be put before Congress for an un-democratic up or down vote.

A year and eleven days ago, ten days before President-Elect Obama was sworn into office, I warned on the retirement blog that Obama wants to reduce the budget deficit by going after your retirement.   President Obama wants to reduce the budget deficit by looting your Social Security and Medicare benefits.

One year into his first term, it should be apparent to everyone but the most die hard Obamabots, that President Obama represents the interests of the wealthy on Wall Street instead of middle-class on Main Street.

Over a year after Wall Street almost pushed the U.S. economy into a depression, and was only saved by an American taxpayer bailout of Wall Street, there has been no re-regulation of the Wall Street casino.

On the same day that Goldman Sachs announces record profits, the President suggests reducing the budget deficit by robbing the American people’s retirements?   A Health Care Reform bill which forces Americans to buy un-regulated and expensive private health insurance or else pay a fine?

If President Obama wants to balance the budget, instead of robbing Americans’ retirements, all the president has to do is reverse the policies that caused the budget deficit.

When President Bush Junior was selected the U.S. government was running a surplus.   President Bush then passed tax cuts for the wealthy, which the Democrats supported, that has cost the government trillions of dollars.   President Bush then launched two wars, which the Democrats supported and which continue today, which has cost the U.S. Government trillions of dollars.

If President Obama wants to balance the budget all he has to do is repeal the Bush tax cuts, and get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, two wars which the American people do not want and do not support.

Call or email President Obama at the White House, his phone number is 202-456-1111, and tell him to abandon the Budget Deficit Commission.   Tell President Obama to keep his hands off your retirement or else he can enjoy his one and only term as President of the United States.

Update: January 23, 2010
President Obama issued a statement today reiterating his support for the Budget Deficit Task Force.   The bipartisan task force would submit their recommendations after the November elections, so that lame duck congressmen could vote for the measure, before going on to Wall Street to collect their bonuses.   Your retirement is in danger – call the White House and your congress person.
