Excuse me?
I'm glad to know that you find the word "Paki" derogatory and offensive - as do I. Coming from the "Paki" part of the world myself, and growing-up having watched race riots in Britain on the BBC, the last time the U.K. was in a prolonged economic slump, the phrase "beating up Pakis" was not inserted at random.

If your Equity Minister has her way, "beating up Pakis", will be the inevitable and unfortunate result. The phrase "beating up Pakis" was deliberately used, in an effort to shock you into understanding, how eliminating the mandatory retirement age in the U.K. will lead to greater youth unemployment and violence.

Your nation, as well as mine, have sad histories of turning on immigrants during economic downturns. Europe is succumbing, once again, to a rise in anti-immigrant politics and practice.

Eliminating the mandatory retirement age will increase unemployment and fuel the bigots in your country. It is in your nation's best interest to maintain, or even lower, the mandatory retirement age.

My apologies if I offended you.

I can't imagine you using the "n" word on your blog, so why do you think it's acceptable to casually throw "paki" into the middle of a sentence, apparently at random?

You are right about 250 dollars not seeming like very much money. Seniors have a tough time living on a fixed income. Social Security is barely enough to live on. Although the extra money will probably come in handy for many, there needs to be some more reforms made for Social Security. However, every little bit helps so I think Obama is on the right track. Thank you for your information.

The green retirement option is one that I rarely hear about. Thank you for your insight. Usually advice on the other side of this arguement is given, in favor of waiting to retire in order to receive bigger social security checks. But you are right. The economic climate is rough out there, and the older you are the harder it is to compete.

I'm an American living overseas. Between my wife and I working (I am a teacher, and she's in marketing) we are able to save about $2,000 to $3,000 per month comfortably. That's not too shabby -- and we have good health care with national insurance and a private policy on the side. We'll likely move to the USA when our baby (on the way) is ready for elementary school, and by then, we'll have enough saved up to pay cash for a house, car, and other things for the house.

Americans, you are getting screwed paying for entitlements, hand-outs, bail-outs, and big government which supports corporations with golden parachutes for executives, as well as nutty fringe organizations that give politicians money to buy their vote.

The system is broken, people. Wise up. We sold our future to China and sent them our jobs as well.

Soon, nothing will be left. The rich making money off of the sale of the USA don't care.

Why don’t you consider retiring in Bulgaria?

There are many reasons for this and the first consideration is a very low cost of living: Bulgaria is known to have the lowest cost of living almost anywhere in Europe.

British people moving to Bulgaria report that they feel much happier and safer on the streets than they did at home. Many Brits have come to Bulgaria for the summer and end up staying for much longer...
