Frugal is Green

September 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The Greenest Americans, are not Prius owners, organic shoppers, or Sierra Club members.  The Greenest Americans are Frugal Americans, who probably don’t realize, that they are doing the most to help save the planet.   Frugal Americans, because of their low consumption lifestyle, reduce their carbon footprint greater than almost anyone else.

Frugal is not to be confused with cheap.  A cheap person, is someone who resists paying, when they rightfully should.  A frugal person on the other hand, avoids wasting their money, and has a plan for their savings.   It could be retirement, a down payment for a house, college for their kids, vacations, etc.   One of the ways, a frugal person achieves frugality, is by lowering their consumption.

Green Retirement Planning enables you, to retire early and with less savings, by encouraging you to lower your consumption.  Consume less in retirement - need less savings for retirement. One of the best ways, to lower your consumption, is to become frugal.   Being frugal, will allow you to increase your savings, and lower your retirement expenses.

There are a few websites on the internet that focus on frugality, but the best one I have found so far, is a site called Wisebread.  It has a lively blog and forum, with thousands of visitors, all focused on living a frugal lifestyle.

For most Americans, some form of frugality, is going to be required to retire.  The majority of Americans, do not have the amount of savings necessary, to support their desired retirement lifestyle.  If you adopt a frugal lifestyle before you retire, you will be able to save more for retirement, and need less savings for retirement.   Reducing your consumption, by adopting a frugal lifestyle, will reduce global warming. Frugal is Green.

Visit the Green Retirement Planning website, and learn how you can retire with less savings and years earlier, than traditional retirement planning.

Frugal is “green” because, yes, it’s not all for me to use up and discard. I have changed my ways, and certainly buying less. Fewer clothing items made in sweat shots, and fewer cheap trinkets from China. It’s nice saving money and reducing my carbon footprint at the same time. http://cashcuddler.com
