Green Hope – A Fish Story

November 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

It is hard to remain positive with all the negative economic and environmental news, but every once in a while their is a story, that maintains your faith in a greener future.  Coho salmon discovered in creek.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that efforts by The Nature Conservancy, has resulted in the return of the endangered Coho salmon to a Northern California creek, after many years of absence due to clear-cut logging.

Green Works.   I have had the pleasure of working with The Nature Conservancy, to fund various eco restoration projects in Northern California, and it is how I learned that Green works.   Even after all the environmental devastation has occurred, after the land has been stripped of it’s natural resources, concerted efforts by various parties can result in a restoration of the environment.

The beauty of this particular project, is that it creates jobs in the community, by allowing sustainable logging to take place within  protected areas.  This is a perfect example of  Green Capitalism. Other beneficiaries of the project include fishermen, who will be able to continue their livelihoods, and consumers like you and me who will be getting fresh Pacific Salmon.

I would like to congratulate The Nature Conservancy on their success, and I hope others will follow their model, and help end the financial and planetary crisis sooner.
