In an interview done by AFP titled, “Lifestyle changes can curb climate change”, the winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Mr. Rajendra Pachauri made an important admission. From the article:
The 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), issued last year, highlights “the importance of lifestyle changes,” said Rajendra Pachauri at a press conference in Paris.
“This is something that the IPCC was afraid to say earlier, but now we have said it.”
Mr. Pachauri’s solutions for saving the planet?
Don’t eat meat, ride a bike, and be a frugal shopper — that’s how you can help brake global warming, the head of the United Nation’s Nobel Prize-winning scientific panel on climate change said Tuesday.
Those are all wonderful suggestions, and Mr. Pachauri’s fearful admission that “lifestyle changes can curb climate change”, appears to be a complete endorsement of our approach. Has Mr. Pachauri not heard that by retiring, his consumption of the earth’s resources would dramatically decline, and he could ride his bicycle whenever he wanted?
At 67, Pachauri said he has not yet decided whether to take on a second five-year mandate as IPCC head. Elections take place in September.
On the one hand, he said, the experience he has acquired would serve him well.
But the advantage of retiring, he said with a smile, is that his carbon footprint — the amount of C02 emissions generated by all this travels — would be greatly reduced.
It’s not a joke Mr. Pachauri, your retirement as well as everyone else, is the “Lifestyle Change” that is required to save the planet. Apparently, Mr. Pachauri hasn’t heard of iPlan Retirement, so today I sent him an email. Hopefully, it will give him the encouragement he needs to retire. Maybe his friends, can give him a bicycle as a retirement present, for all of his wonderful accomplishments. Don’t be afraid Mr. Pachauri, retirement is a lifestyle change, that can be a lot of fun. Think of the bicycle
